I help stepparents who want to feel happy.

I believe that your happiness is a worthwhile goal.

I believe this because I know that my happiness is important to ME.

I believe that happiness is not conditional on how your family is constructed.

This means you don't have to be unhappy or stressed out in a blended family.

This is why I do what I do as a life coach.

The reason I work with stepparents is that I am a stepparent.  I know, from my own experience, that it can be hard to find solutions.

What makes working with Amy different?

I am a stepmom.

I found the real-life experience of joining a family as a wife and stepparent to be unexpectedly challenging.

I dreamed of being a part of a loving and connected family and it was hard for me as a stepparent to find helpful support and resources.

I created my coaching program to serve others who were experiencing the same thing and give you the advantage of my experience.

You might be a good fit for working with Amy if you ...

* You are looking for answers and solutions that work in your actual situations.

* You want support from a person who GETS IT!

* You are looking for solutions from somebody who has been in situations like you are today.

* You are looking for solutions rooted in kindness and love.

* You have already tried changing yourself to fit in. Since that didn't work you might be ready to try something else.

Meet Amy

I'm a stepmom and a mom.

I'm also a wife, a runner, a writer, a retired stock broker, a retired professional photographer, a podcaster, and perhaps most important a professionally certified life coach.

There is a whole page about me which you can find over here.

A few highlights that matter most here are that today my stepkids are adults. They are grown and flown. I met them when they were young but they are now adults. We have relationships - I am still married to their dad. The reason that matters is that when picking a coach it's helpful to work with somebody who has been where you are and gotten to where you want to go. I was a struggling stepmom and now I'm a happy stepmom.

I do things a little differently

I am a life coach and my goal is to guide you from where you are (flustered stepparent) to where you want to be (content and happy).

I have more than 20 years of real-life experience. That includes some examples following the advice of experts who were supposed to know things. Truthfully, sometimes experts would suggest things that felt yucky or when I tried them -- didn't work.

My coaching includes expertise that comes from me forging my own path because traditional relationship and parenting advice just didn't work for my situation.

I call my process Creating Your Own Camelot.

When I stopped trying to change the people and things around me to match what other people said my life should look like things got better. When I stopped trying to become the best or most kick-ass stepparent things got better. When I stopped trying to change other people and instead worked on myself things got better. When I began to ask myself what do I want in my family and what can I do to create that things got better.

I use my personal experience as a starting point but I don't tell you what to do -- I share and let you use that as inspiration or perhaps a cautionary tale. Take it and make it yours.

Empowerment

If you feel helpless, unheard and disempowered in your current situation I will help you create situations where you feel respected, comfortable, loved in your home.

Nothing I teach ... not a single thing...is ever about being a doormat to accommodate others.

Intentionally create the life you desire

I will be that you have already tried a lot of things to fit into the family and go with the flow of your spouse and the kids and even the ex. No matter what it feels like it's never enough. I offer something different. Stop trying to fit into what is and start creating the life that you want.

Drop the drama, cut the conflict

The role and identity of stepmom is famously fraught with drama, comparison, jealousy and conflict. When you look for help the first suggestions are often therapists, social workers and lawyers who may or may not know anything about blended family life.

What if I told you there is another way? My philosophies start with love. Love for myself, love for my family, love for my partner, love the kids, love for peace and quiet...lotsa lotsa love.

Become The Queen Of Your Own Castle

If right now you feel like other people are running your life -- I offer a different way. My premise and my process are simple and yet slightly rebellious. Instead of trying to figure out what "should be" we focus your actions on creating the life that works for you.

What Clients Say

Client testimonials are an important part of any business. When I work with clients it is important to me to protect private information. These are real statements from real clients but I don't share their names.

HS

Coaching with Amy was the best investment. I feel like you gently offered me a way to reflect on my thoughts and see more clearly. This helped me make decisions and take action like I had guard rails up keeping me on track toward my goal.

LS

Coaching with Amy was helpful because she offered me practical tips to help me feel confident in starting and having conversations that I wanted to have with people in my family. I feel calmer knowing that I have these tools and I’m not anxious about the results.

AB

I started working with Amy when I was blending my family and I didn't know what to do. Amy helped me know what was my lane (and what wasn't), how rules can be flexible, and how to have important conversations to state my needs. She is very calm and very knowledgeable about parenting and relationships. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is navigating step-parenting and blending a family. She takes out the scary so it feels fun again.
